For YouTubers

A CPA for YouTubers who already understands AdSense.

Ad revenue, channel memberships, Super Thanks, brand integrations, affiliate links, the merch shelf — a YouTube business is five businesses wearing a trenchcoat. We build one clean set of books that tells you which one is actually paying you, and a tax plan that keeps April from being a surprise.

The mechanics

YouTube money has a shape. Your accounting should match it.

Most CPAs see a Google deposit and book it as income. That misses everything that actually matters about how a channel earns.

AdSense pays on a delay, and the delay matters

Earnings finalize in the first half of the following month and pay out mid-to-late month, once you clear the payment threshold. That lag means your December revenue and your December deposit are two different numbers — and if nobody is tracking the difference, your Q4 tax estimate is built on the wrong year.

RPM swings are a planning problem, not just a vibe

Ad rates spike in Q4 and crater in January. We plan around the curve instead of averaging it away, so your quarterly estimates track the year you are actually having rather than the one you had last year.

Brand integrations do not arrive like ad revenue

A mid-roll sponsorship is a contract with payment terms, deliverables, usage rights, and sometimes a net-60. We read the tax and payment terms before you sign, and we chase the paperwork so the income lands in the right year with the right documentation behind it.

MCN and network splits get booked wrong constantly

If a network takes its cut before paying you, your gross and your net are different numbers and only one of them belongs on your return. We reconcile the network statement to the deposit so you are not paying tax on revenue you never received.

Does this sound familiar?

You built something that works. The system underneath it has not caught up.

You have no idea what your channel actually nets after the network cut, editor payments, and platform fees.
Your AdSense revenue is up 40% this year and your CPA is still basing estimates on last year's return.
You paid three editors, a thumbnail designer, and a VA — and nobody has mentioned 1099s to you.
A sponsor's net-60 landed in January and you are not sure which tax year it belongs to.
You are running merch, memberships, and a course through the same personal checking account.
You keep hearing you should be an S-Corp but nobody has run the number against your actual profit.
Most CPAs vs. Lucid

Not all CPA firms are created equal. Especially for YouTube creators.

Trent has been a great partner over the years as I've been building my financial planning practice. Not only for me personally, but also with clients when they need a new CPA or have a complicated situation like buying or selling investments, such as rental properties or a concentrated stock sale. He's always great about providing options so myself and my clients can make informed decisions. Trent is also proactive with tax planning and analysis — that can be hard to find, but is extremely valuable especially when it comes to complex situations.

Frequently asked

YouTube questions we get every week.

Sometimes, and you owe tax either way. Starting with 2026 payments, the general 1099-NEC and 1099-MISC threshold rose from $600 to $2,000, so smaller payers may not send a form at all. That changes nothing about what you owe — all of your channel income is reportable whether or not a form shows up. We reconcile your AdSense statements against your actual deposits rather than waiting to see what lands in the mail.
As contractor payments, with a W-9 collected before the first payment goes out and a 1099-NEC issued if you cross the threshold for the year. This is the single most common cleanup item we find on new YouTube clients, and it is also one of the largest deductions on the return — so getting the paperwork right protects the write-off.
Move to a real mid-year projection instead of last-year-times-four. We rebuild your estimate off actual year-to-date performance, model whether an S-Corp election now saves more than it costs, and set a set-aside percentage that survives a Q4 ad-rate spike. Doing this in the summer is worth multiples of doing it in March.
