For TikTok creators

A CPA for TikTok creators, built for how the money actually lands.

Creator Rewards, LIVE gifts, TikTok Shop commissions, agency-brokered brand deals, and the UGC work nobody sees on your profile. Five income types, five sets of paperwork, and almost none of it looks like a normal paycheck. We make it reconcile.

The mechanics

TikTok pays you five different ways. They are not taxed the same.

The mistake we clean up most often is treating every TikTok deposit as one undifferentiated pile of income. The paperwork behind each stream is genuinely different.

Creator Rewards and LIVE gifts are different animals

Rewards accrue against views and qualified watch time; LIVE gifts convert through diamonds at a platform-set rate. Both are taxable business income, but they reconcile differently and they land on different statements — which is exactly why the gross on your dashboard rarely equals the deposit in your bank.

TikTok Shop introduces inventory and returns

The moment you sell product rather than promote it, you have cost of goods sold, refunds, chargebacks, and possibly sales tax nexus. Commission income and product income are two different accounting problems and we set them up as two different problems.

Agency deals hide the real number

If an agency or manager takes its percentage before the wire hits your account, the gross belongs on your return and the commission belongs in your expenses. Booking only the net is common, and it quietly overstates or understates your income depending on how the contract is written.

Gifted product is income more often than people think

Free product sent in exchange for a post generally is not free. When there is an obligation attached, there is usually value to report — and a corresponding deduction question. We would rather tell you that in July than have you learn it in an exam.

Does this sound familiar?

You built something that works. The system underneath it has not caught up.

Your dashboard says one number, your bank says another, and nobody has ever explained the gap.
Your manager or agency takes a cut before you get paid and you are not sure what belongs on your return.
You started TikTok Shop this year and inventory is now a thing you have to think about.
Brands send product constantly and you have no system for tracking what came with strings attached.
You are earning across four platforms and TikTok is the one nobody can explain.
You made real money for the first time this year and nothing about April feels under control.

Trent has been a great partner over the years as I've been building my financial planning practice. Not only for me personally, but also with clients when they need a new CPA or have a complicated situation like buying or selling investments, such as rental properties or a concentrated stock sale. He's always great about providing options so myself and my clients can make informed decisions. Trent is also proactive with tax planning and analysis — that can be hard to find, but is extremely valuable especially when it comes to complex situations.

Frequently asked

TikTok questions we get every week.

Do not plan around it. Which form arrives — and whether one arrives at all — depends on the payer, how the payment is characterized, and thresholds that moved again for 2026. The safe operating assumption is that everything you earn is reportable regardless of paperwork, and that any form you do receive needs to be reconciled against your own records rather than trusted at face value.
Track it. When product is sent in exchange for a post or a deliverable, it generally carries reportable value, and the answer differs from a genuinely unsolicited gift with no obligation attached. We set up a simple intake habit so this is a two-minute monthly task instead of a year-end archaeology project.
Meaningfully, yes. Selling product rather than promoting it brings in cost of goods sold, returns and chargebacks, inventory timing, and potentially state sales tax obligations. It is the single biggest structural change we see in a TikTok creator's books, and it is worth restructuring for deliberately rather than discovering in April.
